Optimization

Optimization, when enabled, is an algorithm that tries to obtain a full coverage with minimum, or at least much reduced, number of swaths. Optimization follows the swath / AOI Intersection Calculation.

The Optimization constraint applies to a given Area of Interest. It allows defining optimization criteria to cover the Area.

SaVoir provides three Optimization Modes, selectable through menu Calculate/ Optimization ...

• Optimization Disabled : optimization will not be done in any case.
• Optimize per Area of Interest: optimization will be applied only to AOIs with the Optimization constraint enabled.
• Optimize All: optimization will be applied to all AOIs irrespective of each AOI's Optimization constraint state and criteria.

The following optimization strategies and parameters can be configured:

• Two step

• Daily-based priorities

• Ranking

• Target and coverages

 

Example case: 

Coverage of Croatia in 15 days with 18 ICEYE satellites, using Stripmap Left and Right modes, and selecting only Descending passes.
